Hotel Aplaus was opened in 2008. It was created by the reconstruction and completion of three heritage-protected buildings in the historic center of Litomyšl. The goal was to create a place where the hotel visitor becomes the center of all the action, a celebrity who receives applause. This approach to the client became the starting point for the solution of the entire hotel, restaurant and bar.
THE PERSONALITY AND ART OF JOSEF VACHAL
The very place where the building is located became the inspiration for the interior design of Hotel Aplaus. A place that is historically associated with the genius of the loci, which is personified in the figure of the prominent Czech artist Josef Váchal and his friend Josef Portman, who met in the original pub Na sklípku, on the site of today's hotel.
Josef Váchal and his art became the main motif that permeates the entire space, from the restaurant to the rooms. The distinctive personality of this artist became the starting point for the appearance of the hotel. References to his work can be seen in many different details that appear from the shaping of furniture to the graphic decoration of surfaces.
ORIGINAL STYLE AND NEW TECHNOLOGY
The original selected fragments of the work are made using contemporary technologies. It is a connection of history with the present - from lasered metal motifs, through engraved 3D graphics, to digital printing. In the same way, furnishings combine traditional forms with contemporary technological processing. Most of the furniture is originally designed for the needs of the hotel.
The same conceptual approach was chosen in the design of the individual rooms. In addition to Váchal, other important personalities associated with Litomyšl became another inspiration for the appearance of the rooms. The figure of Bedřich Smetana became the starting point for the design of the apartment, where, for example, the colors used playfully refer to the name of the composer.
The effort was to create the atmosphere of a bourgeois house transferred to the present day. One of the connecting elements is the traditional lighting fixtures used in combination with non-traditional colors. The newly designed graphic visual style of the Hotel Aplaus complements the uniform appearance of the individual locations of the facility. It is reflected not only in the original information system, but also in the various decors in the individual rooms. Each room is so special and unique.
